Hi. I'm Will. I do all sorts of cool stuff.

I'm a freelance videographer and run my own production company, BeforeTree Productions. I love make videos that document my travels and experiences, as well as for businesses and individuals. I'm studying Media Technology at the University of Salford in MediaCityUK.

My latest project is here, and have a scroll below to see what other projects I've worked on.

Social Media Promotional Videos - Cheatwell Games

I was approached by Cheatwell Games to produce short social media promotional videos for their kids' toys and games.

I worked with the marketing team to create the videos from existing assets, as well as physical copies of the game.

The videos have ranged from short animations to shoots with families playing the games.

Easter Service 2021 - Kennet and Test Valley Methodist Circuit

It was a pleasure producing the Kennet and Test Valley Methodist Circuit's 2021 Easter service. I worked with ministers and members from across the Circuit to create a virtual service as restrictions meant it couldn't be in person

I really enjoyed taking creative control and making all the assets for the service, as well as understanding licensing for the music and hymns.

Berkshire Scouts Project Africa - Uganda 2019

In Summer 2019, I went on an expedition to Uganda with Berkshire Scouts, under the Project Africa programme.

I was in charge of communications for the expedition which involved regularly posting updates to the Berkshire Scouts website and Facebook pages, as well as a private parent's group.

I shot lots of video in Uganda and produced two videos which showcase different aspects of the trip.

CCS Insight - Videographer

At CCS Insight, I'm responsible for the company's video output. I oversee the shooting and editing of the promotional and research-oriented video as well as livestreams and webinars.

During my time there, I've attended key events such as IFA and CES, producing daily content. This often comes with tight deadlines and having to work across multiple timezones.

More recently, I've taken the technical lead on livestreams, including when Mobile World Congress was cancelled, we streamed What Would Have Happened at MWC 2020? I worked behind the scenes to make sure everything went off without a hitch and we have many more planned for the future.

the-bright-side - Toy Promotional Videos

I've worked with the-bright-side to produce a series of promotional videos showcasing toys to potential clients. This was extremely useful on my latest trip to Hong Kong as not all clients were able to make it to the showrooms due to unstable political environment at the time. This gave the-bright-side a new way to connect with them and deliver the perfect pitch every time.

More recently, I've expanded my scope to include other clients, and now offer a bespoke product pitch video editing service.

National Citizens Service (NCS) - The Community Furniture Project Documentary

I created this video when I joined the National Citizens Service in Summer 2017. My chosen skill was media and along with a team of 6 others, we were tasked to create a video documentary of a local charity - The Community Furniture Project

I took the lead on the project, as I had the most experience with video. We had two days of shooting and I spent a further two days editing.

The final product was really well received by the charity and the wider community.

St Bart's School Stage Tech Team - Stage Manager

I was part of the stage technology team while at St Bart's School, and I took a variety of different roles. Towards the end of my time in the team, I became stage manager for all productions.

Each year, the school has a house drama competition. In 2018, I took the lead on lighting and sound design, producing cue sheets that the tech team could use to implement our plans.

The school production in 2018 was 'Grease' and I worked as stage manager. This was a very involved role, and took lots of planning and communicating between departments of the school to see what they wanted to achieve. I annotated my script to note what microphones were used, what props needed to be on stage and other general notes such as costumes and lighting scenes.

Every year the Sixth Form holds a formal winter ball. I liaised with school officers to determined what equipment and preparation would be necessary. I setup the sound and lighting in the hall and monitored it throughout the night.

In addition to house drama, each house holds a house evening which I supported and managed in 2018 and 2019. My responsibilities included coordinating with the production teams, providing the best support with equipment available and providing stage management.

St Bart's School Geography Dept. - Iceland Trip 2017

I had the opportunity to visit Iceland on a Geography study trip in Easter 2017. I was tasked by the teachers to document the trip and decided to produce a video.

The video showcases the incredible geographic landscapes we encountered on our trip, which included visits to the Geysir Spouting Hot Spring (shot in slow motion), footage from inside Langjökull Glacier and The Bridge between two continents at Sandvík.

The video was shared on the geography department's Twitter feed and was enjoyed by both parents and participants alike.
